Messaging
How chat works between families and breeders on Anumau.
How conversations work
All communication between families and breeders happens through Anumau's built-in chat. There's no sharing of phone numbers or personal emails — everything stays on the platform.
This protects both sides: families have a record of what was agreed, and breeders aren't bombarded through personal channels.
Starting a conversation (families)
To message a breeder:
- Find the litter or breeder profile you're interested in
- Click the message button
- Your first message starts the conversation — the breeder will be notified
What you can send
Conversations support more than just text:
- Photos and videos — useful for sharing proof of setup, yard space, etc.
- Reservation requests — breeders can send a formal reservation through chat, which triggers the deposit flow
- Waitlist invites — breeders can invite someone directly from a waitlist through chat
Notifications
You'll get a notification whenever you receive a new message. If you have the app installed, you'll get push notifications. Otherwise, you can check your messages from the messages icon in the nav bar.
Responding as a breeder
Breeders receive all inbound messages in their messages inbox. There's no obligation to respond to every inquiry, but a fast response rate is shown on your profile — families notice.
